Applebee's

Remember Applebee’s? Feeling good in the neighborhood? Home of the Salsa Verde Beef Nachos and Funtown Riblets. Many, many years ago, myself along with my co-workers at Cornett were asked to bring some promotions to life for one of Applebee’s largest franchisees Thomas & King. One of these promotions was a ladies’ night at Applebee’s called “Girls’ Night Out.” At the time, it seemed like every brand out there was trying to drive customers straight to their social media channels. Through a series of strange and kind of funny social media tutorials, we told women to quit wasting time on social media and come to Applebee’s Ladies’ Night for some real interactions, “a little more face to face and a little less Facebook can do the soul some good." The campaign got press. Tons of it. Some good and some bad. It was featured on Buzzfeed twice. It got Tweeted a bunch—good, to great, to bad. I sincerely apologize if you were offended by this campaign. Anyways, this box is dedicated to good ol’ Applebee’s and contains some of the thinking behind our “Girls’ Night Out” campaign. #riblets
