This box pays homage to my entry into the advertising world. Back in 2011, I was co-owner of several struggling businesses and in need of money. I caught wind of a new kind of advertising agency called Victors & Spoils. They were crowdsourcing ideas from creatives on the internet. They’d issue a brief online and open it up to anyone that wanted to participate. They’d then reward the best ideas (winners of the brief) with cold hard cash. I had ideas and I needed cash so I started submitting a shitload of ideas. And it paid off. I started winning briefs and getting paid. The most notable of these wins came from Victors & Spoils’ famous (maybe infamous) Harley Davidson brief. This box contains some of the thinking behind my winning idea “No Cages.” Shortly after this, I started working in advertising at Cornett where I’ve been for the past eight years.
